Inside the White Cube Discussion Questions

Hey all,

As the "point person" for Inside the White Cube, I came up with a few discussion questions to get us thinking about the reading. Post your own to the comments or feel free to answer or comment on mine.

1. O'Doherty makes a distinction between the "eye" and the "spectator". What is that distinction? How does each function?

2. What points does O'Doherty try to make using Duchamp's 1,200 Bags of Coal, and Mile of String?

3. What does O'Doherty beleive is happening to the art made between 1964 and 1976? Why? What do these dates represent?

4. Has anything about the art world significantly changed since the writing of Inside the White Cube? If so, what?
